In order to ensure that you and your pet get the best service and treatment possible, we have implemented policies that ensure professionalism and the safety of pets and staff. Please take a moment to look over our policies and feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
We ask that your pet is current on all vaccinations, including rabies, DHLP-Parvo and Bordatella vaccine.
If you suspect your pet has fleas or ticks, prompt and thorough action on your part is needed. Flea infestations can lead to tapeworm and other health problems. If fleas or ticks are found during the grooming process, your pet will be treated with a natural product to kill the parasites and an additional fee will be incurred.
We do not administer sedatives and ask that you notify us at appointment time if your dog was administered any sedative products before arriving for his appointment.
If your dog is scooting his/her behind on the ground, the anal sacs may be full. If they are not emptied, they can become impacted and infected. Anal gland expression is not a service offered at our pet spa. The anal glands are located internally within a dog’s anatomy. Expression of the anal glands, if necessary, should be done at your veterinarian’s office to insure no injury to your pet.
Leash Your Pet
For your pet’s safety, please bring your dog in and out of the salon on a leash. This will help ensure that your dog does not run out the door when another customer arrives and allows us to safely guide your dog to the grooming area. We will keep your leash and collar/harness during the groom and put them back on your dog when you pick them up.
Senior Pets & Pets with Health Problems
Grooming can be a stressful procedure for senior and frail pets and therefore we have a procedure specifically for these clients. These pets are welcome and extra care will be given to them. They are given extra time and care that they are not strained during the process.
Dematting several mats on your pet is not something this shop performs. It is inhumane and very painful to have this service done. Some pets are demattable depending on how many mats there are, and how close to the skin they lay. Your groomer will determine this for you upon your arrival and may suggest a shave down as the only alternative. Your pet’s comfort level and wellness are very important to us!
Safety comes first for everyone during the grooming process. We ask that you inform us prior to grooming if your pet has bitten someone or has aggressive tendencies. In the case of a pet who is difficult to groom for any reason, we will suggest the easiest style that the groomer can do and usually the most comfortable for your pet. We will stop the grooming process if we feel your pet’s behavior is compromising their safety or ours. Hoof & Woof reserves the right to refuse service any anyone, including any dog known to be aggressive.
Your pets comfort is our first priority. However, if your pet becomes ill or is hurt and the services of a veterinarian are required, you hereby give us permission to obtain treatment if you are not available to do so and you agree to pay for such expenses.
There is always the rare possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is sharp! Even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, quicking of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. If you arrive to pick up your pet and it is still being groomed, please do NOT talk to it or allow it to see you. Sit quietly, or step outside for a few moments. Every effort will be made to insure your pet is groomed as safely as possible, but an excited pet can be dangerous to continue to work on.
Pick Up Times
In order for each and every dog to get their individualized attention during their stay, we only keep your best friend for as long as it takes to groom them. At the time of your scheduled appointment, you will be given an approximate time (average 2 - 3 hours) for pick up. We will also call you to give an exact pick up time, approximately one half- hour before we are finished making your pet beautiful.
All grooming fees must be paid at the time services are rendered. Checks returned due to insufficient funds will be subjected to a $35 fee. We also accept Visa and Mastercard.
We do not have boarding facilities. If your dog is not picked up by closing for the day (3 pm), a late fee will be incurred.
A Final Word
Lastly, but most important: we are all human here. Some of our days are better than others. This job isn’t always easy. We have come into this profession because of our love of animals.
Forgive us if we make them our number one priority--yes, even over people! The grooming schedule for each individual dog is approximate.
This is a very unpredictable business, so please be patient about this. We do not keep them here any longer than we have to, and if we feel rushed, our work and their safety may be compromised.
We strive to provide you with the best, most complete services possible. We are highly recommended by current clients, and welcome any feedback you may have to help us continue providing top-notch grooming services.
